Possession

It was a great day last night listening 32 contestants singing in UTAR Idol semi-final. As one of the judges, I'm so grateful for this, thanks for having me as a judge, this is the very first time and might be only once in a lifetime. I did really enjoy every single minute I was having up there, I felt like the contestants were actually and specially sung to me, I got moved with the passion. That's the word called "connection". And for you guys out there, please don't stop singing. God is great but sometimes life ain't good, so keep on singing what you love to sing.

Today is Valentine's day, nothing special as previous years. But I'd love to make it as Friendship's day, what Valentine's day all about rather than couple dinner is when all the bachelors and bachelorettes could have fun together. It's not a bad idea, indeed.

From now on, please call me Steve and Steve is gonna get you. Lol!
Keeps gettin' better...

The Sound Of Music

If you love music, watching 1965 musical movie "The Sound of Music" is a must, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. With its simple plot, and happy-ever-after ending, it's hardly not to get touched and connect your emotions to the movie and the songs.

The story is about Maria (Julie Andrews) who's going to be a nun, but she's falling miserably in her attempts to become a nun because she's a rules breaker, she has her own way to face the world, she loves music. For god's sake, Maria is then sent to the Navy Captain Georg Von Trapp's (Christopher Plummer) family to be a governess to take care of his 7 children who's already lost their mother. Maria has completely changed the way Captain Georg manages his family, she brought back the music to the family, teaching the children how to sing is the best part of all. Relationship between father Captain Georg and the children becomes better and closer through music, and eventually Maria and Captain Georg find themselves falling in love, though Georg is already engaged to a Baroness. The romance makes the story even more complete, and predictably, they are married. But their happiness is then threatened when Austria is about to come under the control of Germany, and the Captain may soon draft himself into the German navy and forced to fight against his own country. The story ends with the family is trying to escape to the other part of world.

Not only the plot of the story that magnificent, but also the lyric of the song enlightens me some precious lessons.

1. I Have Confidence by Julie Andrews
"And mind me with each step I am more certain, everything will turn out fine. I have confidence the world can all be mine, they'll have to agree I have confidence in me..."

- This tells me to be myself, be confident in everything I have.

2. My Favourite Things by Julie Andrews
"When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad, I simply remember my favourite things and then I don't feel so bad..."

- This tells me to recall all my good stuff and memories when I'm feeling down. That's just the way it is, you can do nothing.

3. Do-Re-Mi by Julie Andrews and the children
"Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do (Oh,oh,oh)..."

- This is simply bravo. I really admire the people who wrote this.

4. The Lonely Goatherd by Julie Andrews and the children
"O ho lay dee odl lee o, o ho lay dee odl ay, O ho lay dee odl lee o, lay dee odl lee o lay..."

- This one showcases the exchange of the voice of falsetto and full voice. Surprisingly great.

5. So Long Farewell by The children
"There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall, and the bells in the steeple too, and up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say cuckoo..cuckoo..."

- Scene of this part is so warm. I nearly cry for this one, the children sang this so innocently. That is why the word "it's hard to say bye bye" is said.

6. "Climb Ev'ry Mountain by Mother Abbess
"Climb ev'ry mountain, search high and low, follow ev'ry by-way, every path you know...Climb ev'ry mountain, ford ev'ry stream, follow ev'ry rainbow, 'till you find your dream..."

- "Finding your dream is just like climbing every mountain", what a good description.

"The Sound Of Music" is a 5-star musical movie. It brings your love towards music from the beginning till the end. And surprisingly, it has already being with us for almost a half century and has its impact with us for forever, hopefully.

A brilliant CNY, a brilliant START

I used to hate Chinese New Year. I hate going back to my grandpa's old house, and I do hate CNY celebration songs except those very olden ones like Zhou Xuan's and Lin Dai's type of age. But CNY this year has changed my mind a little bit, I began to love it. I figured out all my relatives and friends have turned to be more lovable, and I've spent more time to keep my eyes on my relatives and friends, they're lovely.

I'm not gonna forget this CNY, one is negative because my Cameron Highlands trip for this CNY was canceled cause of the stupid broken car. I was so sad for quite a long time, CH is my all-time fave place to go in CNY, I love the weather, I love the cactus and plants, I love everything in CH. Too bad! Another is positive because my family and I had so much fun on another trip in Malacca, it's become my another fave place to go. I met my NS friend Ah Song in Mahkota Parade, but Andrew and Mantou were not around. A little disappointed. Malacca has changed a lot, more places to hang out than 3 years ago. I love Malacca River Cruise, I love Jonker Walk, I love Dataran Pahlawan, I love Eye on Malaysia(though I didn't take a ride on it), I miss the little girl I met in the double-decker bus. I love Malacca, I can't wait to go back again.

Brand new Menara Taming Sari and Eye on Malaysia in Malacca.

Eye on Malacca@Malaysia.

Somewhere nearby Eye on Malaysia. I love this scene.

A little girl I met in the Double-Decker sightseeing bus. She's so cute, she can imitate whatever I act.

I never knew Malacca River Cruise can be like this beautiful at night. It looks like Clarke Quay in Singapore.

And hey, guess what. I've uploaded all the other photos that I think is great at Flickr. Please click here to see more and always get back to my Flickr's album.

Today is the 8th day of the New Lunar Year, 7 days to go Chap Goh Mei. Wish everything is going to be well in the coming days. 2009, love ya!

The Best We Never Had

Music is something to enjoy with while singing is somehow to express the emotions. They're not about to judge or being judged. Quite honestly, I hate judging and being judged. It's even harder when it comes to judge music pieces or singing, because it is an art. Tomorrow is my uni singing competition, UTAR Idol audition, I'm no longer a participant but judge. I'm kinda skeptical to myself but listening to people singing is the best part I'm going to have, this is what I'm good at. For the participants out there, I feel you and I'm with you because I had exactly the same days like you'll have.

Wish everyone who's going to take part in this contest would have a great day tomorrow. Take it easy.

"You are beautiful no matter what they say..."

UTARian rocks the world!

Tonight is a fun night playing around at YaFu's house for practising one of the UTAR school anthem songs. Along with all the awful dances and actings, we did really enjoy the time we're singing choir. But other than the dances and actings, i think we have done so well. Thanks to everyone who's involving, we're just mad! UTARian rocks the world. Haha!

A bit can't wait for the coming Saturday. This could be real fun and crazy thing to do together. Choir singing is so gay (in the definition of "happy").

Here we come, Kampar.

Delightful & Pathetic

It's another exhausting shopping day for this entire day. I went to Mid Valley meeting up with my brothers and spending 3 hours looking for great shirts and pants in the Exhibition Hall. There was actually sort of warehouse sale for the brands like B.U.M, Diesel, and so forth and I ended up buying 5 shirts with only RM60++. That's even cheaper than buying from Pasar Malam. You can buy a long jeans with only 19 bucks!! What a waste if you go home without anything!

This is the shy moon hiding behind the "Eiffel Tower" while I was waiting for the stupid RapidKL bus at Asia Jaya bus stop(I've been waiting for 45 minutes!) It's extraordinarily huge moon.

Back to the school, this is a day before the brand new semester starts, I'm so excited to see most of my housemates are back and I've got a souvenir from one of my housemates (Again!! She has always gone so many trips.), Lea Fong buying from Sabah. Thanks again.

Honestly, me myself can't really figure out why I'm kinda nervous of this coming new semester, I mean I had never been so mind about the school opens before, throughout my campus life. In fact, my nerves and senses tell me that this whole coming thing is going to be totally different, something challenging awaits me and it's coming my way. A bit helpless, but everything will be alright as time goes by, hopefully.

In any other way, I'll still be me and always be.

My Recording Sharing 3 - Born To Try

Hi, it's me again to share you a recording of mine. This one is surprisingly special to me because I just found it this afternoon in my old mp3 player when I was cleaning up my stuff. This recording is back in January 2007.

So, putting here to share my a capella recording in 2 years ago, it's called "Born To Try", originally recorded by an Aussie songtress, Delta Goodrem. This debut single is from her debut album, "Innocent Eyes", which has released in 2003 and the album has reached its peak No.1 in Australia charts. Not to mention, she is the first ever Aussie artist to have five No.1 singles from a debut album.

Please click here to download and enjoy.

Here's the lyric:-

Doing everything that I believe in
Going by the rules that I’ve been taught
More understanding of what’s around me
And protected from the walls of love

All that you see is me
And all I truly believe

That I was born to try
I’ve learned to love
Be understanding
And believe in life
But you’ve got to make choices
Be wrong or right
Sometimes you’ve got to sacrifice the things you like

But I was born to try

All that you see is me
All I truly believe
All that you see is me
And all I truly believe

That I was born to try

I’ve learned to love
Be understanding
And believe in life
But you’ve got to make choices
Be wrong or right
Sometimes you’ve got to sacrifice the things you like

But I was born to try

But you’ve got to make choices
Be wrong or right
Sometimes you’ve got to sacrifice the things you like

But I was born to try

One night only

It's been so long didn't really enjoy a deep crap (chatting for nothing) with pals. Just caught some supper time with YaFu, Kevin, Guan Han, Alex and Yon Lynn crapping for everything, from Siew Wan's stupid stuff to STPM, Foundation, Ph.D, and then clubbing and beers. It's such a fun time to update myself while crapping.

I suddenly found a song that is so damn suitable to Siew Wan's "mature" life, called "Innocent Eyes" by Delta Goodrem. The lyric is like this "...for a little girl inside who won't just hide, don't let me see mistakes and lies. Let me keep my faith and innocent eyes...da da da da da da, seems I lost in my reflection, da da da da da da, find a star for my direction..." Siew Wan is kinda lack of direction, avoiding all the realities, that's why her innocence is still keeping within. We all think that she needs a serious mistake to lead her on the right track. But quite honestly, with her innocence, we can make lots of jokes on her, she gives happiness (why sounds like a clown?) No offence, no prejudice, haha! You're so lovable, anyway.

This is Siew Wan's "meow face" at YaFu's birthday celebration.

It's time to go bed now. Sleep tight. ZzzzZzzz...

Happy Birthday

Today is my dearest eldest brother's 24th birthday. Wish you have a Happy Birthday with lots of joyness. Quite honestly, I admire your principle of doing anything, you're the eldest and you have had a toughest life to lead us as younger brothers to live life easier. You meant a lot to our family.

Wish you well in your new career and everything of you.

Happy Birthday.
